Discuss, don’t repeat data

Puntahan ang Taglish Version

When we’re talking about results and discussion, the former will come from figures and tables while the latter will come from the text. If you just rehash whatever the data conveys, it’s as if you’re not trying to relay anything to the reader at all. Don’t underestimate your reader: they can read and understand the tables and charts.

Instead of repeating whatever the charts and tables say, write about information and details that are not too obvious. Discuss the trends, highest/lowest values, unexpected values, and the like in your discussion. It is our duty as researchers to show that our results are important, so we’re just wasting time if we’re simply repeating the results.

Remember

Don’t simply rehash the data from your research. The reader can read, understand, and interpret these.

Instead, report trends, unexpected data, and other details that are not too obvious from your data.
